ProTV started its live transmission on 1 December 1995. The channel is owned and operated by Central European Media Enterprises (CME). The company also founded ProTV Chisinau on 3 September 1999 that broadcasting in Republic of Moldova. It is one of the most watched channels in Romania. The schedule consists of news, entertainment, series and movies. Stirile ProTV is the most watched newscast in Romania reaching a market share of around 25%. The newscast won the International Emmy Awards News in 2008. The station is available terrestrial in most area of the country. It also features a high definition version since 1 December 2005.
