France television broadcasted for the first time in 1931. It was one of the first countries in the world that started to transmit live television. The public national broadcaster is France Televisions, it is owned by the state. In 1964 L'Office de Radiodiffusion-Television Francaise, abbreviated as ORTF, was the office in charge of managing public radio and television. In 1975 it formed three channels, TF1, Antenne 2, France Region 3. In 1992, Antenne 2 and France Region were renamed and they became France 2 and France 3. The television stations are available via cable, terrestrial and satellite services. The programming is diversified and it mainly consists of reportages, documentaries, entertainment shows, films, animated programs and shows for children.
