VTV

VTV was launched live on 1 August 1964 as CVTV, the name meaning Cadena Venezolana de Television. It was initially owned by a private company but due to financial problems it was sold to the Venezuelan state in 1974. After the purchase the channel was renamed as simply VTV (Venezolana de Television). It switched to color broadcast on 1 June 1980. The channel is widely available terrestrial free to air on channel 8 nationwide.
