Sudan TV was established in 1962. The TV channel is managed by Sudan National Broadcasting Corporation (SNBC), the national public broadcaster. The initial terrestrial free to air transmission covered only the Khartoum area. The coverage area was extended in the next year to cover the whole country. It switched to color broadcast in 1976.
