Saudi 1 was launched live in 1965. The channel is also known as KSA 1. It replaced ART TV which was broadcasting between 1954 and 1965. The initial broadcast was in black and white, until 1974 when it switched to color transmission. Saudi 1 is today available in North America, Europe and the Middle East. The programming grid is mostly dedicated to politics, economy, culture themes and it also features religious and Islamic programs. The channel is owned and operated by the Ministry of Culture. Saudi 1 can be received terrestrial digital on channel 27 UHF.
