TVI

TVI was launched on air on 20 February 1993. It was the fourth national channel available terrestrial and the second private TV station in the country. It was launched shortly after one its main rivals, SIC Radical. It was established by some Rádio Renascença, União das Misericórdias and Rádio Renascença, managed by the Catholic Church. TVI was acquired in 1999 by Media Capital, founded in 1988 and becoming one of the largest media companies in the country. It is the most watched channel in the country with a market share of 23,8% (as 20012). The programming grid is dedicated to the whole famly and features various series, movies, reality shows, soap operas and news. Most of the schedules productions are domestic ones.
