America TV went on air on 15 December 1958 as the second oldest channel in the country. The station is owned by the Plural TV company, having as shareholders the Lima newspapers La Republica and El Comercio but also the Mexican company Televisa. In the first decades the channel was in permanent competition with its main rival Panamerica Television founded on 21 July 1957. The schedule consists of news, telenovelas produced by Televisa, sport, magazines, films and entertainment.
