Prime was launched live on 30 August 1998. It was the 7th free to air TV channel in New Zealand to be available nationwide. The channel is owned and operated by Sky Network Television since 2006. It was previously owned by Prime Television Limited from 1998 until 2006 and by Nine Entertainment Co. between 2002 and 2005. Prime Television is available terrestrial on Freeview channel 10 UHF but also on satellite platforms and cable networks such as TelstraClear InHome TV on channel 4. Most of the schedule programs are foreign productions from USA, Australia and UK.
