Proyecto40 went live on 19 June 1995 as CNI40, standing for Corporacion de Noticias e Information. It is owned and operated by Televisora del Valle de México, hold by TV Azteca. The terrestrial broadcast is available since it was launched on channel 40 UHF. CNI closed a partnership with Azteca television in 1999 to broadcast its productions, the channel being renamed as Azteca 40 but is was closed on 16 July 2000 and it became again CNI. Using force, Azteca TV took over the facilities of CNi on 27 December 2002 rebranding the channel again as Azteca 40. The government of Mexico decided that the take over was illegal so that CNI resumed its broadcast on 6 January 2003.
