The channel was named after the Assyro-Babylonian goddess Ishtar, symbol of love, fertility, beauty and tender. It is affiliated with the political party Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council, established by the founder of the channel in 2007. The programs are in the Syriac, Kurdish and Arabic languages.
