Teleamazonas went live on 22 February 1974. It became a very popular channel in the country in a short time. It was the first station to broadcast in color in Ecuador, founded by antonio Granda Centeno. Fidel Egas Grijalva became the owner of the station in 1999 due to a high debt of Antonio Granda Centeno to Banco del Pichincha. He sold the station in September 2010 to the La Republica Group from Pereu (30%), to a group of employees (48%) and the rest to some friends of him (22%). The station is also producer of series and movies.
