CTV Edmonton live broadcast started on 25 October 1954 as CFRN-TV. It was the second television station in Alberta and the second channel affiliated to CBC. It was founded by Sunwapta Broadcasting Ltd. From 1 October 1961, it became a CTV affiliate. It is broadcasting in color since September 1966. The station was acquired in 1988 by Electrohome Limited of Kitchener. Electrohome buld a joint venture with Baton Broadcasting in 1995 and the station was sold to Bell Media on 7 December 2000. The schedule consists of national CTV broadcast along with local newscasts.
