CTV Calgary went live on 9 September 1960 as CFCN. It was founded by the Love family and was the first independent tv station in Canada. CFCN was acquired in 1967 by Maclean Hunter, who merged with Rogers Communications in 1994. The station was sold to Baton Broadcasting in 1996, who bought became the major stockholder of CTV in 1997. IN 2001, CFCN operated transmitters in Drumheller, Banff, Brooks, Pigeon Mountain, Canmore and Oyen. The broadcast features CTV schedule along with local news.
