CBC Calgary went live on 1 September 1975 when the formerly CBC affiliate CFAC (renamed later CICT) became independent. The station was initially branded as CBC 9 or CBC Calgary, was renamed later into CBRT and returned to CBC 9 in 1982. The channel is also known by its callsign CBRT-DT. Its studios were used by CBC Newsworld for the production of different shows like Newsworld Today and Your call until 2008. The schedule consists of a simulcast of the national schedule of CBC along with local and regional news.
